A Timeline of Rosario Exports

Early Days

Rosario Exports was founded in Liverpool by Nigel Heyes, but the origins of the business can be traced back to a far more modest setting. The first ideas for the business were discussed above a local Blockbuster Video store. Three friends explored the possibility of exporting British products to overseas markets. Although the business would eventually take a different direction, those early conversations laid the foundations of Rosario Exports.

2003

Following the initial venture, Nigel decided to continue independently and founded Rosario Exports. The company was named after Rosario House, the home where the business operated at the time. What started as a small export operation quickly grew through strong relationships with UK manufacturers and overseas customers. These relationships laid the foundations for the business we know today.

2005

In the early years, Rosario worked closely with North West wholesaler Parfetts. This helped the business build a loyal customer base and gain valuable experience within the export sector. This relationship later evolved into the management of BritishFoodExports.com. Rosario acted as an export commission agent, connecting overseas buyers with UK suppliers. At its peak, BritishFoodExports.com generated more than £10 million in annual turnover. The platform helped establish strong relationships with importers and distributors across Europe and beyond.

As international trade evolved, Rosario adapted its business model. The company increasingly focused on supplying overseas supermarkets, wholesalers and distributors directly. By building long-term customer relationships, the company successfully navigated changing market conditions. At the same time, it continued to expand its international reach.

2016

Rosario Exports works directly with manufacturers and overseas customers. This creates opportunities for brands to grow their export presence while giving importers access to innovative British and European products. This approach benefits both sides of the supply chain: customers gain access to exciting new products, whilst brands gain exposure to established international markets through trusted distribution partners.

2024

A significant milestone in the company’s development came in August 2024 when Rosario brought its warehousing operations fully in-house. This strategic investment gave the business greater control over stock handling, export preparation, quality checks, consolidation services and customer support. It also marked the beginning of a new chapter focused on delivering even higher levels of service and flexibility for customers.

Present Day

Global trade has faced many challenges in recent years. Supply chain disruption, rising freight costs and geopolitical uncertainty have affected businesses worldwide. Despite these challenges, Rosario Exports has continued to grow. Today, the company remains committed to exceptional service, long-term partnerships and helping British and European brands reach customers around the world.

From its beginnings above a Blockbuster Video store in Liverpool, Rosario Exports has grown into a trusted international export partner. Despite that growth, the business remains guided by the same principles that shaped it from day one: reliability, expertise and a genuine commitment to customer success.
